"700?" she marvelled. "Well, naturally this calls for a Silly Contest."

This is The Beehive's 700th post!

Sparklers and confetti and virtual Beehive cake for everybody!

You know us; we'll celebrate most anything as long as there's a cute cake involved.

700 blog posts.  Mercy me.  Some of you Gentle Readers have been around for most (or even ALL) of those missives, and for that I say you deserve some sort of prize, for sure.  So I say to celebrate our 700th post, it's high time we had another silly contest around here.  It's been way too long since The Beehive had a silly contest, don't you think?

(Anybody still remember our semi-regular "Oh My Word" poetry contests from a few years ago?  Those were a blast!  Maybe we should do another one?)

Entering is simple.  Really simple.  Just leave a comment telling me the name of the last song you sang.  Not the last song you heard, but the last song you actually sang.  Yourself.  Out loud.  In church, in the shower, in the rain, in your car, wherever.  That's it!

This is not just for Beehive old-timers, either.  Come on and enter whether you've read 700 posts or whether this is the first time you've been here!

Deadline: Wednesday (10/28) at high noon.  Then I'll blindfold Justin with a bandanna (he'll so dig that) and have him randomly pick a winner.

The prize?   Aw, c'mon.  You don't really expect me to tell you, do you?  It's a surprise, silly.

In the immortal words of Pooh, "You never can tell with bees."

Okay.  Ready?  Go!  I can't wait to see what you've all been singing.

* * * * *

PS.  Incidentally, a while back a young minister wrote to say that he had just finished a personal project of reading Every Single Post in our archives.  No joke.  I was a tad nonplussed, to say the least.  Maybe we should send a silly prize to him, too.

PPS. Cake photo (and recipe!) from Williams-Sonoma. And yes, that beehive cake pan really does make cakes that cute.

Perfect--"A Mighty Fortress is Our God" in a community Reformation service last night! :-)

We were dismayed to not see that hymn on the program for the evening, but someone else must have been dismayed and made a change so we ended with that one. Yay!

Congratulations! I haven't been around for 700 posts, but I have enjoyed every post I have read.

Let's see - the last song I sang was I Cast All My Cares Upon You....and Jesus Name Above All Names....quietly to a sick baby.

Congratulations on your accomplishment!

Hmmm...I think it was my own rendition of Amy Grant's Thy Word last night when I was putting the baby down. We haven't sung yet today...which means we're behind!

"In the name of the Hundred Acre woods we claim thee,
In the name of the Hundred Acre woods!"

:) I have been singing it since my six-year-old son began singing it this morning.

I practiced Hosanna in Exelsis by Brent Pierce for my conducting class. Look it up on Youtube, it's AMAZING.

p.s. my word verification was "helspoo." :)

Oh, goodness. I was just singing something in the kitchen, it had a minor feel, church song, but I can't name it. It was a half-conscious humming episode. ;o)

Let's see...I sang several songs on the way to work this morning, but the last one was "You Are the Answer" by Point of Grace.

Falling for you, by Colbie Caillat. And yep, I was really beltin' it out. Didn't know you could belt that song, did you? Well, you can.

I've been around for at least half of those 700 posts... and now thanks to that minister, I'm wondering what I missed. I certainly must go back to the beginning and start to read.

As for the singing, I last sang (or is that have sung) The Sands of Time are Sinking in church yesterday. It's one of my favorite hymns.

So, glad your missives are coming more frequently now. You were missed. :-)

I found myself singing that Cat Stevens song from the cellphone commercial: "if you want to sing out, sing out/if you want to be free, be free.."

Last thing I sang: the show-off parts of Mozart's Queen of the Night aria and the Laughing Song from Die Fledermaus, in the style of Florence Foster Jenkins.

(those of you unfamiliar with that name are missing out on one of life's finest joys. please, go to youtube right now and search for dear Florence's rendition of both of these songs. please. and go read the article about her on Wikipedia.)

Congratulations! 700! Yay! I sang, "Hush little baby, don't say a word, Momma's gonna buy you a mockingbird . . ." to my little one year old today as I nursed him. Sweet little blue eyes looking up at his momma. :)

Wow 700! That's quiet a while, what an accomplishment.

I was singing "Christopher Robin" to Britty-boy this morning. I do believe that the actual name is "Return to the House of Pooh Corner." When we were little we thought that my Dad had writen it and we always asked him to play it on the guitar and sing it to us. He always made up a verse for each of us at the end. Now I do the same for Britt.

I sang, "I am a Promise" to the little girls tonight. I missed a note somewhere in the middle but, bless them, they don't care.

It's the same reason I think it's cute when the dog howls, I think. ;)
