Myrna Loy Shoes

You know it's really Fall on the morning Queen Shenaynay pitches a fit that it's just Too Far Past Labor Day to be stepping out to church in your strappy little white summer sandals, and with fervor ebarks on a mission to promptly shod all Beehive constituents in Myrna Loy shoes* and cowboy boots.

Aaaah and ooh la la. Ain't we fine?

We feel strangely overcome by a sudden need for a Thin Man movie festival.

*As defined by Q. Shenaynay's precise system of footwear nomenclature: a) a rare class of glamour shoe, preferably those with a 1930's or 1940's aura about them, such as might qualify to adorn the feet of Myrna Loy; well-nigh extinct; b) Truly Worthy Footwear; c) an automatic purchase.

lol.

So today the HeadGirl went shopping and got herself an Absolutely Adorable pair of Gloria Vanderbilt shoes in the Myrna Loy style. They were $1, which made the whole deal better.

They are sooo cute! And so are your shoes. :)

The Head Girl's shoes look most like the pair in the middle of the heels- except her shoes have two straps. We'll just have to share a picture of them in the next day or to.

The DHM prefers a more severe flat, having crippled herself in her youth by wearing teetering spiked heels and strappy sandals while working at a restaurant, and completing the job in a bizarre accident caused by the Head Girl when she was 2. I feel a blog post coming on.

Love the shoes--makes me want to go shoe shopping. Yes, even after the marathon shopping day with Eugene on her birthday. Lovely.

Oh, I know! I know!

Spuddy Buddy is wearing the boots! Right?!? Second from the right is the Queen, third from the right is Shieldmaiden, and last, but not least, is FSLL.

Ok, I cheated a little because I already played this game with FSLL!

Those shoes are SO cute! I've never heard of Myrna Loy shoes (that might be a crime...) but I'm sold on them because they are SO cute! Where do you get them?

Lacey, it's not a brand. That's just my silly name for shoes that have a certain look about them --that old black & white movie look.

Where did yall get Caitlin's?

By the by--nice picture. It looks just like it was taken in the 40s!

I like character shoes, myself. You buy them at dance stores— they kind of have that Myrna Loy vibe, but they've also got a thicker heel, since they are meant for dancing. If they're well fitted, you can do eight hours on your feet in them.

Not twelve, though. Remember that.

GravyGal, we got all of them (except Spuddy Buddy's!) at DSW. We adore DSW. So much. It's a happy place. So happy.

OOOOHHH! My bad...I didn't get it. But they're still really really cute shoes! Thanks for straightening me out Queen! :)

Hey hey! My cousin Leah (Green) Mosely works at DSW. She kind of looks like me only littler and cuter. Say hi if you meet her; she's one of my BF's.
Why am I not surprised we both love The Thin Man? Molly used to say she wanted to be Myrna Loy when she grew up.
One winter many many years ago 3 out of 6 of us were sick one week and Papa went to the library and came back with almost the whole Thin Man series. We've been fans ever since.
