Our very first day of homeschooling, September 1994. Fa-So-La-La was starting kindergarten.
September 1997. Shieldmaiden was actually starting kindergarten, but she didn't want a big ugly K on her sign when Fa-So-La-La got to have a number. Since she was already reading fluently I decided to let her have the big pretty 1 she really wanted.
And today... Spuddy Buddy starts 1st grade!
And finally, me (with my brother David) coming home from my first day of school in September 1967. I had on my favorite Winnie-the-Pooh dress from the Sears catalog, my black Mary Janes, and a tartan plaid book satchel with a Big Chief tablet and a new box of crayons in it. I still remember how it smelled.

Your school has no shoes. Not even flip-flops! The flag and easel are a nice touch. :)
You know Brother David Christine?! What a co-winky-dink...I know him too! :) I have to agree..yall are all sooo cute!
I noticed the shoe thing, too! We can do one better- today school had jammies ;-)
I bet you walked both ways in the heat and snow, too, didn't you?
Cute comparison pictures, I'll have stage one for this year, since we started Tuesday. Actually, I think we'll start over next week, this week pretty much stunk!
My, how you all have changed over the years. Especially you, Q.S.
Holding the numbers will be very beneficial in later years, or probably even now. We used to take back-to-school pictures, but mom just wrote on the backs of them. The numbers say it all.
Isn't time amazing??? I am so thankful for the invention of the photograph...you all look so wonderful and I really love that you remember the smell...I remember wearing my favorite blue dress with a quilted apple on the front. I also remember the nametag I wore around my neck on a thick piece of yarn...my first bus ride, and the sun shining all day long.
