...and be merry

"In a world without humour, the only thing to do is to eat. And how perfect an exception! How can these people strike dignified attitudes, and pretend that things matter, when the total ludicrousness of life is proved by the very method by which it is supported? A man strikes the lyre, and says, 'Life is real, life is earnest,' and then goes into a room and stuffs alien substances into a hole in his head."

Chesterton seems to be very fallish, and quite in vogue at the moment. There have been three Chesterton posts in the last four days.

And there are bound to be many more Chesterton posts to come. We note that several of our friends are currently reading various GKC titles, and there are a number of his books piled up around chairs and bedsides at the Beehive.

And as you so very well know, m'dear, to read him is to quote him. So hang on to your derby. ;-)

I've been stuck in the middle of The Napoleon of Notting Hill for awhile now (bedtime reading tends to be rather slow and not very productive). But you have spurred me on, I will persevere (and I do like Chesterton too).

Somehow, dinner is not quite so appealing as it was earlier...
